Easy Macarons

Ingredients:

- 110 g almond meal
- 3 egg whites brought to room temperature fresh
- 200 g icing sugar
- 50 g caster sugar
- 1 pinch cream of tartar
- 1 pinch salt
- 1 tbs liquid food colouring

Instructions:
1. Line a baking tray with baking paper and grease the paper.

2. Beat egg whites until frothy. Add salt and cream of tartar.

3. Beat until stiff peaks form, and then slowly add sugar, one tablespoon at a time.

4. Add flavouring and colour to the egg mixture.

5. In a separate bowl, combine the almond meal and icing sugar.

6. Fold the almond meal mixture into the egg mixture.

7. Put the mixture into a piping bag and pipe out 4 cm circles, at least 5 cm apart.

8. Dip your finger into a bowl of water and gently smooth out any peaks if they remain.

9. Set macaroons aside, uncovered, for up to 1 hour for them to form a thin crust.

10. Bake at 155C for 12–15 minutes.
